Deeside Junior Netball League
Further to a recent update we are keeping our fingers crossed that the Deeside Junior Netball League will be able to resume in the Autumn of this year.
This is of course dependent on a number of issues that face the Aura Leisure Centre management. They are hoping to have the keys to the facility returned from Betsy Cadwaladr Health Board at the end of July and then progress with the reinstatement of areas that were used for the Nightingale Hospital. Meetings have been taking place in readiness for the event so fingers crossed that we will be in a good position to secure our place for the 2021 -22 Netball Season.
I hope that you are all in good health.

Important Announcement
Aura have continued to follow and closely monitor the guidance available from Public Health Wales, NHS Wales, Gov.uk, Flintshire’s Occupational Health, ACAS and Community Leisure and have established a line of communication with Regional Emergency Planning to ensure our actions are part of an coordinated approach.
The Coronavirus outbreak is a very fluid and rapidly changing situation so we will be continuing to follow advice from Public Health Wales and England and the World Health Organisation, local and national government. Please continue to follow the government’s guidance on how to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
In light of the above agencies & the government’s latest announcement regarding Coronavirus, we have reviewed the guidance provided and have made the difficult decision to suspend all netball activity including netball training sessions and the Aura junior netball league
The safety and health of our Netball Family is a priority
We will monitor the experts’ advice and guidelines closely in the coming weeks and update you via e-mail or notices on our websites and hopefully we will be back on court as soon as it is reasonably possible.
The Aura Junior League had just 3 more Saturdays and 108 Fixtures to run before Finals Day. The Placings on some of the final games were crucial to the outcome of the League results. However due to the situation that we find ourselves in I think it prudent to leave the placings as they stand for this season.
It is not the result that everyone would wish for but unfortunately circumstances dictate. If by any remote chance the situation changes I will come back to you with a proposal.
We ask you to continue to support each other during this difficult time by using your WhatsApp groups, checking with your teammates, coaches, team managers and volunteers so that we can still work together while keeping safe.
I hope that you have enjoyed the league thus far this season as we look forward to happier times in the not too distant future. Thank You.

From a founder member of the North-East Wales Netball Association
Clwyd Women’s Netball Association.
Prior to 1977 there was no formal netball association in North Wales. Those players who had achieved County and North Wales standard at schoolgirl level had very few opportunities to play serious netball once they had left school. A number of sports centres, notably Buckley, Flint, Deeside, Plas Madoc and Queens Park ran netball leagues on a fun basis, but for anything more competitive and committed, players from North Wales had to look to the leagues across the border in Cheshire and Wirral
It was one of those players who foresaw the need for a County association and it was during the summer of 1977 that the first Clwyd women’s netball team was formed.
